Assassin's Creed Hexe Loses Creative Director: Clint Hocking Leaves, Jean Guesdon Takes Over

Assassin’s Creed Hexe is getting a new creative director, as former Creative Director Clint Hocking has left the game. Replacing Hocking will be Jean Guesdon, the new head of content for the Assassin’s Creed brand, having previously been the creative director for Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

Hocking had worked at Ubisoft since 2001 in a pair of stints, most notably serving as the creative director for Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Far Cry 2, and Watch Dogs: Legion. A spokesperson for Ubisoft said on Hocking leaving:

“We sincerely thank [Clint] for his vision, creative contributions, and dedication over the years, and we wish him the very best in his next chapter. Development on Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe continues with a seasoned team.”

Announced back in 2022, Hexe was billed as a change in structure for typical entries in the franchise, with a focus on horror elements. Back when the project was announced, Ubisoft’s then-franchise boss Marc-Alexis Cote said Hexe was further out than other projects in the franchise, including the recently released Shadows.

Hexe is not the only title in the works for Assassin’s Creed. Last week, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed that the company is working on multiple titles in the franchise spanning both single and multi-player.

Additionally, the running of the Assassin’s Creed franchise was taken over by the newly-established subsidiary, Vantage Studios, which is partly owned by Tencent.

Do you have hope that Hexe remains true to the original promise or do you think all the changing of hands will affect the game? Let us know in the comments and join the GamerzTheory Discord and hang out with us.
