Rumored 2D God of War May Launch Multiplatform
An upcoming 2D God of War title, set to bridge the gap from God of War Ragnarök to the rumored sequel could have a surprising new twist. The game, which could be revealed during the Sony State of Play this week, according to Insider, Nate the Hate, started off under consideration for a multiplatform release.
God of War has been exclusively a PlayStation day one release in the franchise's history, so a release on PC and PS5 for the upcoming title would be a twist. Nate has a great track record on previous leaks, so it is believable that such a thing could happen.
"All I can say is this: When talk of the 2D God of War first started last year, I heard whispers that it was being considered for a multiplatform release,"

Perhaps the most important part of Nate’s leak is that he says when the game first started. Whether those whispers died early on in development or grew from there remains to be seen. Helldivers 2 would be the latest and best example of a recent Sony game with a simultaneous PS5 and PC release that might have shaped the decision for this upcoming God of War game.
The style of the game, a “2.5D” Metroidvania-style, would also play nicely on something like the Nintendo Switch 2 if Sony chose that route instead. Whatever the case, hopefully the game is revealed sooner, perhaps at the State of Play. Besides, with Master Chief coming to PlayStation this year, anything is possible.
Do you think Kratos is joining Master Chief in a multirelease strategy going forward? Should God of War just stick to PlayStation only? Let us know in the comments down below and jump into the official GamerzTheory Discord.
