Jak and Daxter Remaster Pitch Revealed: Stunning Cutscene

There could have been a Jak and Daxter remaster, as footage has recently surfaced online.

Remasters and remakes are far from uncommon and will likely continue well into the future. Some recent titles, such as Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Final Fantasy, and The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, have seen incredible success. However, fans often wonder why certain remasters or remakes are chosen over others. Would you really like another remake of The Last of Us?

PlayStation is no stranger to the remaster and remake scene, yet one franchise has been dormant for quite some time. Could fans finally see a remaster of Jak and Daxter?

In a post on LinkedIn, Travis Howe, a senior animator at Sanzaru Games, revealed that the team had created a fan pitch for a remaster of the series, including a one‑for‑one recreation of a cutscene. This cutscene was designed to showcase their vision for an updated version of the long‑forgotten title. Howe stated that the team was not commissioned by Sony and had no official involvement with the proposal - it was simply a pitch in search of permission.

The revealed cutscene featured highly detailed character models of Jak and Daxter, along with an updated vision of the environment.

Unfortunately, a remaster was not in the cards for the team. However, Howe suggested that if enough fans request a Jak and Daxter remaster, Sony might listen - meaning there could still be hope after all.
