PlayStation Shuts Down Dark Outlaw Games: Jason Blundell Studio Closed After Just One Year, No Games Released

PlayStation is shutting down one of its first-party studios, Dark Outlaw Games, according to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier. The news comes before Dark Outlaw released a single game.

Formed in March 2025 by former Call of Duty Zombies lead Jason Blundell, Dark Outlaw Games, according to Blundell, had been “working away in the shadows” and when the time was right they would step forward.

Except that time never came, as the studio is closed only a year after being formed, and becomes the second studio formed by Blunell to be shut down by PlayStation. His previous company, Deviation, was closed back in 2014.

PlayStation has yet to comment on the specifics of the studio being closed. However, in addition to Dark Outlaw Games, Schreier reported that PlayStation is also making cuts to its mobile development team, with roughly 50 people losing their jobs today.
