The Witcher 3 New DLC Rumored for September 2026

Rumors have been swirling for quite some time that CD Projekt RED is preparing a new DLC for The Witcher 3, as a way to kick off the media campaign for The Witcher 4 release in the future. Initially, the DLC was rumored to be set to drop in May 2026, the game's 11th anniversary. However, Polish publication Strefa Inwestorów, the same outlet that reported the previous rumors, is now pointing to a release date close to September of this year, after speaking to an analyst for a brokerage firm that covers CDPR.

The September date is much closer, though still before the highly anticipated GTA 6 launch coming this year in November. The analyst speaking to Strefa even admitted as much that whenever CDPR chooses to release the DLC it will be before GTA 6.

"I didn't include DLC for The Witcher 3 in the model, but like everyone else, I assume that CD Projekt will try to release the DLC before the new GTA release date to avoid this difficult period for other titles. So definitely before November, probably around Q3. I think September is the best window. In the summer, gamers are on vacation, and September seems like a nice 'back to school' period. However, things could change. They might come up with the idea to release it in two or three months."

"We can toss around potential dates, but the company likely takes into account many factors that influence the release window. They'll probably also have to ensure that the quality from Fool's Theory is fully satisfactory, so I prefer to assume it will be a bit later."

Of course, the delay by quite a few months is disappointing. We cannot fault CDPR for giving the DLC as much time as possible to be ready for launch. While CDPR has yet to confirm anything for The Witcher 3, it is interesting to note that earlier this week on X, replying to a user question, they stated very clear that they had ‘no plans for additional DLCs or expansions for Cyberpunk 2077’. The fact they have been mum on the future of The Witcher 3, should mean something about any future DLC coming for the game.
