Crimson Desert Base PS5 Gameplay Finally Here: Looks Smooth Pre-Launch
We finally got our first footage of Crimson Desert, as gameplay on the base PlayStation 5 was shared today, two days ahead of the launch. During PlayStation Japans’ PLAY!PLAY!PLAY! broadcast, which can help ease fans' potential fears, the fact no console footage had been shown had some worrying the game was headed for a Cyberpunk 2077-like disaster.
Overall, the gameplay seemed quite smooth, and no noticeable frame pacing issues during combat or travel segments that were shown. Though the broadcast bitrate is on the lower side, a proper evaluation is quite difficult.
The video is mostly spoiler-free, as more of the content has been featured in the weeks leading up to the game's release, though there is a new boss shown at the end of the video, so if you are trying to go in truly blind you will want to stop the video before the 18:00 mark.
With Crimson Desert looking smooth on the base PS5 without the support of PSSR2, which will elevate the PS5 pro version, does give some credit to the statements made last week by a former Pearl Abyss developer who claimed the game is on a completely different level than your typical Unreal Engine 5 game.

The worldwide launch of Crimson Desert is just a few days away on March 19th, are you jumping on day one? Let us know in the comments and wait the final days before release with us in the GamerzTheory Discord.
