Black Myth: Zhong Kui – Who’s Hungry?

We were able to get another look at the upcoming title from Game Science that will continue the Black Myth series - Zhong Kui. Although the title isn’t a direct sequel, we were treated to six minutes of a lovely woman preparing a meal, which appears to be someone’s last meal. The mesmerizing feast of dishes was enough to catch anyone’s eye in this brief look at in-engine footage, prepared for this year’s Chinese New Year. The video’s description reads, “Year of the Horse: Savor the Feast, Slumber in Peace,” and specifically states, “note that this content is non-canon and for entertainment purposes only.”

“Savor the Feast, Slumber in Peace” is the catch however. As we watch the chef prepare the meal with incredible detail, it’s clear that Zhong Kui has raised the bar for graphical immersion. The textures and details of the items being prepared are more realistic than ever - from clam shells with a creature inside to those who help prep the meal around the knife-throwing chef. The trailer is full of whimsical creations and concludes in mystery.

At first, all is calm: a woman preparing a meal. However, the sequence in which the trailer concludes leaves us with more questions. Who will savor the feast to slumber in peace?
