Star Wars: Galactic Racer | Fuse Games' High-Speed Outer Rim Racer

One reveal during The Game Awards shocked fans of an old racing game like no other. Those who recall playing Star Wars Episode I: Racer back in 1999 likely jumped out of their seats when Fuse Games revealed to the world - Star Wars Galactic Racer - during last year's The Game Awards showcase. The upcoming high-stakes, run-based racing game from the team that brought fans Burnout and Need for Speed is set for release later this year on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

The game takes place in the post-Empire Outer Rim and features intense, destructible racing, including pod racers and speeder bikes across various planets. The team certainly has a highly acclaimed list of past titles in the racing genre. Now, however, their first debut title is taking center stage with one of the world's most recognizable brands - Star Wars.

Speaking with GamesRadar+, CEO and co-founder Matt Webster said:

"We believe this style of high-speed, intense, aggressive, track-based arcade racing hasn't been fully served for modern HD gamers."

The approach is simple - a “pick up and play” mentality with authentic Star Wars depth that spans across all systems, including the game's progression, which aligns “in tune with the depth of mastery and replayability that racing brings,” continued Webster.

The game will also feature a high level of customization tools, new and familiar vehicle types, and a diverse landscape fans will recognize across the galaxy. The question remains - when will fans get to jump into their racer?

Let us know your thoughts on this new pod-like racer. Hyped? Or will you pass?
