Helldivers 2 Sells Over 20 Million Copies, Inspired ARC Raiders Pricing Shift
Helldivers 2 has surpassed 20 million copies sold, and brought in over $700 million in revenue, according to Alinea Analytics. Helldivers 2's success has brought a mini-revolution of sorts to the gaming world. With ARC Raiders CEO admitting earlier this month that Helldivers 2 influenced their decision to move away from the free-to-play model and instead price the game “reasonably.”
With Helldivers 2 one of the hits from last year and ARC Raiders already establishing itself as a powerhouse title in the current year, it will be curious to see if the latest sales figures from Helldivers 2 will influence more companies to make the shift. As far as the 20 million copies, the Xbox release appears to have been enough to push Helldivers 2 over the edge, with 1.6 million units sold since launch.

In the past month alone, Helldivers 2 has attracted over 3.6 million players across PS5, Xbox, and Steam. With some estimates that over 250,000 players have over 500+ hours played on the title. In addition to the Xbox numbers, the Steam versions account for 13.1 million copies, with PS5 an additional 5.6 million. Notably, the Xbox launch was selling faster in the first eight days than the PlayStation launch. Finally, China has also given the game a sizable boost, with 10% of the Steam players coming from the country.
