The Elder Scrolls VI Location Teased: Former Skyrim Designer Says Team Agreed 'Obviously' Years Ago
It has been almost eight years since The Elder Scrolls VI was announced, and little details have come out since. In a recent interview with PCGamer, Kurt Kuhlmann, former developer with Bethesda, who served as a co-lead designer for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim did give a bit of a hint about the location.
From when we were talking about it way back in the Fallout 4 timeframe, there was a sort of consensus amongst a few people that were talking about it. We had an idea, but it was more of a consensus, like, ‘OK, where should the next game be?’ And the people that were talking all agreed. It was not an argument. It was like, well, obviously, it should be here. We were more in the feel of it, in the setting; there was no story involved yet.

Kuhlmann was quick to note that he has since departed Bethesda, he left in 2023, and was not sure if anything has changed regarding Elder Scrolls VI’s setting. Adding, “I haven’t been involved in that level of the story side of things since Skyrim,” Kuhlmann did state he was originally set to lead production of The Elder Scrolls VI, with a vision for it to be the series’ Empire Strikes Back, before departing.
Announced at E3 2018, not a single screenshot or art from the game since. Todd Howard revealed last year during an interview that development is progressing really well, but a release date still has yet to be given.
