GTA 6 Physical Release Delayed? Report Claims Disc Version May Launch Weeks or Months Later

GTA 6 is already the most hyped release of the year, but those hoping to get their hands on a physical copy of the game might be stuck waiting a little longer than the rest of us. Polish website PPE.pl has claimed that a physical release of Grand Theft Auto VI could be held back to avoid spoilers leaking online.

Graczdari, the PPE.pl insider who has correctly nailed numerous reports on release dates for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered on disc and the Nintendo Switch 2 port of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. He is now reporting that Take-Two has no plans for GTA 6 to have a physical edition on launch.

“We’re hearing more and more that the physical version won’t be released simultaneously with the digital version to prevent leaks. We’re getting conflicting reports – some say the physical version will arrive three to four weeks after the digital release, while others say it won’t happen until early 2027. More information will be available in mid-February.”

While nothing has been confirmed yet games leaking online early, sometimes weeks in advance, due to physical copies getting the street date broken is nothing new. Holding back a disc release of GTA 6 would be the best way to avoid spoilers, and while it might bum out some collectors, it might be for the best.
