Forza Horizon 6 Announced: Xbox Direct Reveals Japan Setting, 550+ Cars & May 2026 Launch
It was a big day for Xbox and Playground Games, as Playground not only started the Xbox Developer Direct by opening with the biggest racing game yet - Forza Horizon 6 - but also ended the Direct with FABLE! The team known for absolute perfection in the Horizon series did not disappoint fans with their next racing game, Forza Horizon 6.
During the Developer Direct, we got a look at the next and largest installment in the series, which heads to Japan on May 19, 2026, for PC and Xbox Series X|S. PlayStation fans will have to wait a bit longer, as Playground revealed that the title will be coming to PS5 later this year.
As design director Torben Ellert explained, in Forza Horizon 6, we start as a nobody - a lonely tourist in Japan - joining the festival at the bottom and working our way up to become a superstar among the top racers in Japan.
Playground discussed how this is the largest map in the series, five times the size of previous titles, and described it as “a world where every road leads to discovery.” The game will also feature the largest roster yet, with over 550 cars available at launch to showcase in your garage. Your garage will become your showpiece - a place where you can completely customize its look and your estate. A new feature, “the estate,” appears to offer a large landscape that will be completely open for your friends to explore, with a focus on social experiences.

This is only the beginning of what looks to be another showstopper from Playground Games in the Horizon series. Let us know in the comments what you think of Forza Horizon 6. Is it a pass or a play?
