Beast of Reincarnation: Game Freak's One-Person One-Dog Action RPG Revealed at Xbox Developer_Direct

Beast of Reincarnation is a new game from Game Freak coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Xbox Cloud this Summer. Six years since the game began development, we finally got a look at the upcoming title at the Developer_Direct today.

4026 AD A Journey of Emma and Koo

Set in the distant future, the game features a pair of protagonists, Emma and Koo, who meet in a land in the East. Emma is afflicted by “blight” granting her powers to manipulate plants, at the cost of having no memory or emotion. She bears the burden of a “sealer” where she must hunt malefacts and absorb their blight into her own body. Shunned and feared by those around her, Emma lives a life of total isolation.

Koo is what Emma must hunt for a “malefact”, a creature that is a dire threat to the world. While their existences are fundamentally incompatible, after crossing paths, Emma and Koo must band together on a journey to the Far West to confront the “Beast of Reincarnation”, the source of all blight. Guarded by blight-filled forests created by the “Nushi”, Emma and Koo’s only hope to tackle down the Beast is to absorb the Nushi’s power and master their respective skills.

One-Person One-Dog Action RPG

Mastering combat in Beast of Reincarnation will require players to blend the styles of Emma, who uses a fact-paced katana, and Koo, who supports her with powerful skills triggered via a command-based system.

Parrying attacks with Emma will earn you points used to unleash Koo’s abilities, raw combat skills are not enough to survive. With a high priority on ‘tempo’, players can slow down the battle and fight with a more tactical mindset, and not be forced to rely on split-second reflexes. With a trio of difficulties, Story Mode, Normal Mode, and Hard Mode, players can help Emma and Koo at their own pace and with their own style.

Don't Look Up

Everyone in this world has a secret from Emma and Koo to the allies who they cross paths with offering support. Perhaps the biggest secret of them all is what lies above the trees. Perhaps the most vital rule in this world is “Never look up at the sky.” An ancient legend of this world warns that “something” is floating up there.
