The Witcher 4 To Feature Nearly A Billion Dollar Budget

CDProjekt Red has been in the headlines recently but not for what fans would expect, instead, word spread like wildfire after The Witcher 3 would be receiving new DLC set to release later this year. The 10 plus year old title will be getting a new adventure with the premise to help bridge the gap between The Witcher 3 and The Witcher 4.

Fans have their theories about who will take the starring role in The Witcher 4, and one analyst suggests that The Witcher 4 could have its biggest budget yet - nearly $1 billion.

In a recent report from Noble Securities, analyst Mateusz Chrzanowski (via Strefa Inwestorow) suggests that production and shipping costs for The Witcher 4 will be around PLN 1.4 billion. When converted to USD, this is approximately $388 million to make the game. Chrzanowski also expects a similar amount for the marketing budget and anticipates the release of The Witcher 4 during the fourth quarter of 2027. With both budgets combined, CD Projekt Red is estimated to spend approximately $776 million on the game. For a title of this magnitude, delays should be expected. When a game is delayed, more money is spent on production, which could bring The Witcher 4 closer to a total cost of $1 billion.

It is undoubtedly an ambitious title that will hopefully push the boundaries of the The Witcher series to new heights for the next trilogy. However, before fans get to play The Witcher 4, a surprising DLC is rumored to be released this May. Noble Securities analysts expect this DLC to feature a strong emphasis on the path to the premiere of The Witcher 4, stating:

“We expect the next paid add-on (DLC) for The Witcher 3 to be released in May 2026. We assume sales of 11 million copies at $30 each next year. We estimate the production budget at PLN 52 million. The release should kick off the proper marketing campaign for The Witcher 4.”
