Bungie Marathon: Art Director Joseph Cross Leaves Before March 2026 Launch
Bungie’s upcoming FPS Marathon has not had an easy going since its reveal in 2023, the launch was originally set for September 2025, but had to be delayed due to controversies such as plagiarism among others, to the new date of March 2026. Earlier this month Bungie re-revealed the game with new game play and the new release date however the game will move into the final stages without the long time art director.

Job is Done or Leaving Before the Ship Sinks?
Joseph Cross who worked as the art director of Marathon since the title entered development in 2018 has left Bungie ahead of the games release. Cross confirmed with Kotaku that he left on his own terms ahead of the game's launch. Cross said “I’m super proud of the project and what the team accomplished over the last six years.”
As far as the other controversies with the upcoming FPS, earlier this month the artist Antireal (4nt1r34l) said that an ongoing dispute with Bungie over assets in the alpha build of Marathon that were 1:1 copies of her work has been resolved to her satisfaction.
For the upcoming release Bungie has confirmed Marathon will have a buy up front price of $39.99 and that will get you the full game, Bungie also announced that all previous seasons battle passes will be available for purchase at any time meaning players will not have to worry about missing out on seasonal cosmetics.
