No Rest for the Wicked Together Co-Op Update: Release Date January 22, 2026 + Open Beta Now Live
No Rest For The Wicked: Together Co-Op Update! Test It NOW!
Moon Studios, the developer behind Ori and the Blind Forest and Will of the Wisps, has finally given fans the news they've been waiting for since the announcement: details on when everyone can play together!
In the most recent ‘Wicked Inside’ video (see below), CEO and founder of Moon Studios, Thomas Mahler, discussed what’s ahead for their ARPG, including the multiplayer mode. The team will feature a co-op multiplayer open beta test that players can opt into right now and provide feedback before the co-op’s full launch on January 22, 2026.
Mahler and the team hope to create the feeling that “players always desire to have when playing an RPG together with others - togetherness.” Unlike other MMO-like games or FromSoftware titles, where calling for help means sending that player away once the battle is over, Moon Studios wants to create a living, persistent world for friends and family - a shared world not found in other games. Breaking the mold of known genres is part of the studio’s DNA, Mahler mentions.
The Together update will allow friends and family to work together within one realm. When a player creates a realm and invites another player to join, that realm becomes permanent and always accessible, with up to four players able to tackle the world as they see fit, regardless of whether the host is present. Each player is free to play solo or band together for missions, boss fights, or to gather resources and rebuild Sacrament. When playing solo while others are offline, the world structure allows players’ actions to remain and be visible to those returning later.

If you buy a property in Sacrament, it becomes permanently occupied by you, and others will not have future access to that property. Alternatively, you can buy a property communally and share the dwelling, resources, weapons, armor, etc. Players will have access to a community chest that serves as an asynchronous trading post, allowing gear to be created for others to grab when they return online.
You will also be able to have a chest that is only yours, with a private setting within the shared dwelling - so you won’t have to worry about someone grabbing that great sword you just found on your last run. Loot found within the world is not shared; it works on a first-come, first-served basis. Moon Studios hopes this will create a shared environment, knowing not everyone will get the best loot instantly and will have to work together to help each other. Or, if someone becomes too greedy and hoards all the good loot, there’s always the option of kicking them off a ledge, as Mahler did - because friendly fire is something to be mindful of when playing with friends and tackling tough boss fights.
Co-op multiplayer will also be available for the Crucible. How far can you and your friends make it within the roguelike mode that was added to the game shortly after its early access release? Along with the co-op addition, there are many new reworked mechanics, such as the bow and the addition of quivers. The bow continues to see reworks as the team tries to find the sweet spot with the weapon. Backstabbing enemies was originally meant for only a select few baddies, but now all can be sliced through the back - though AI is smarter, and some will look to counter your backstabbing approach. Be warned.

The Together update looks to be one of the biggest to date when it launches on January 22, 2026. Will you be jumping in with others? Let us know over in our Discord - who’s your crew you’ll be rolling with?
