Terminal Wars Developer: More Gamemodes Planned Beyond Just 4v4
Terminal War is a 4v4 team-based shooter, heavily inspired by The Last of Us Factions. Alec Favale from the team joined us on Theory Unlocked this week to talk about his upcoming game, and let us know that he wants the game to be more than just a 4v4.
One thing that Alec mentioned is that while the game will always be a PVP first title, he wants the lore of the factions you can play as to matter.
“I hope we can add a campaign mode, perhaps even with co-op. It will never take away from the main PVP focus, but we want to make sure that people can connect and understand the major factions in the game and their motivations.”
Alec did allude to the fact that while the campaign will not be in the game at early access launch, there will be hints in the environments as a way to help tell players the background of the game and how the world ended up in this state. From there Alec, who admitted to being a long time Call of Duty player, added that he hopes to do more than just a 4v4 mode.
“I would love the ability to rematch, something you could do in Factions, but you had to have a private lobby. There is nothing better than the smack talk between teams as you go back and forth and that feeling of wanting to beat someone if you just lost."
“I want to make sure the game has something for everyone. Of course, a 1v1 mode is something I have been pushing for, as well as a duo mode. I am hoping we can add things like Clan leader boards so that you can show off just how high ranking your friend group is.”
Alec also hinted at the fact that while the game will launch with only 12 guns currently, he has plans to double that as well as frequent map updates.
“I hope we can get to a spot where we can have our team pumping out a new map every 4 weeks, and a new gun every 6 weeks. We have worked on over 24 different guns. We only launched only 12, but 24 is definitely something I want to make a reality down the road.”
