Warhorse Studios Rumored Developing Lord of the Rings Game

Warhorse Studios, developers of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, are reportedly working on an upcoming Lord of the Rings game. However, this does not appear to be the same game as was reported in late 2025 that a new Lord of the Rings game was in development backed by Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO).

The game, backed by ADIO, is believed to be designed in a way that could compete with Hogwarts Legacy, with it being reported in October 2025 that multiple parties were involved, including Embracer and Revenge, as well as another studio which has now been revealed to be Crystal Dynamics by Insider Gaming.

Crystal Dynamics, which is currently working on a pair of new Tomb Raider titles, Legacy of Atlantis and Catalyst, is said to be working on the Lord of the Rings title alongside the Tomb Raider games.

When asked for comment about the status of either the Warhorse Studios or Crystal Dynamics-developed game, Embracer said they do not comment on rumors or speculation. Crystal Dynamics declined to comment.

While the ADIO-funded game being allegedly developed by Crystal Dynamics has been in development for some time, Insider Gaming reports that they were told the game is still “a bit away.”
