Bungie Discussing Accessibility Changes To Marathon's Cryo Archive

Marathon end-game zone, Cryo Archive, released over the weekend, and game director, Joe Ziegler, took to X to reveal that the studio is already discussing how to make the zone more accessible for players.

For now, the current requirements to unlock the Cryo Archive are as follows:

  • Reach Level 25

  • Establish a connection with all 6 Factions

  • The Sekiguchi Faction requires a very specific mission to scan yourself in the Outpost

  • Use a loadout with a minimum value of 5,000 credits

However, there are two other requirements to even play the zone, you cannot go in alone, meaning you will need at least two other players in your squad, as well as the raid being only available on weekends.

Ziegler said that the team is taking feedback from players who participated in the raid this weekend, and are focusing on three topics.

Scheduling: options for players who can't play on weekends

Solos: is there any way to play this map without joining a crew?

Subroutines: can subroutines be more guaranteed as a drop from vaults?

While the idea of gearing up during the week to raid on the weekend seems cool in a vacuum, limited FOMO-type gameplay experiences can severely hamper a game. For now, Bungie has been quick to respond to player feedback on their extraction shooter, already experimenting with duo lobbies after player requests.
