Crimson Desert Explodes: $20 Million in Steam Pre-Orders Before Launch

Crimson Desert is already selling incredibly well - in fact, it’s on fire, with sales reaching $20 million even before its official release tomorrow.

Pearl Abyss has had players’ attention on Crimson Desert for quite some time, and fans will finally get their hands on the game tomorrow on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. One analyst firm, Alinea Analytics, is setting expectations rather high before players are even able to dive into the world of Pywell.

In a recent newsletter from the firm, Rhys Elliott reported that Crimson Desert has already reached nearly 400,000 copies sold, translating to approximately $20 million in revenue. This figure is based solely on Steam pre‑orders and does not take into account sales on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S.

Many have been concerned about how well the game will run on consoles, as Pearl Abyss had previously showcased only high‑end PC gameplay. However, those concerns were tempered yesterday, with 10% of total pre‑order sales occurring in the last 24 hours.

The analytics firm also noted strong pre‑launch Steam metrics, predicting that Crimson Desert will quickly surpass the launches of last year’s Game of the Year title, Expedition 33, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. That said, no one - not even Sandfall Interactive - could have predicted the incredible success their debut title would achieve.

Let us know in the comments if you’ll be picking up Crimson Desert and exploring Pywell tomorrow.
