Resident Evil Requiem Hits 6 Million Sales: Fastest in Franchise History

Resident Evil Requiem's record breaking launch continues, just two weeks after CAPCOM announced the title sold five million units in the first six days. CAPCOM has now announced another milestone, as the title has now surpassed six million units, making it the fastest-selling entry in the horror franchise by far.

The game has easily been the best game of 2026 so far, and one of the best in recent years, tied with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 for the highest user score on Metacritic of all time, and Requiem is tied on Steam with a 96% approval with the award-winning JRPG.

The game's content is not over either, earlier this month CAPCOM teased that more story content is coming in the form of a premium story expansion, as well as a surprise coming in May, rumored to be Mercenary mode.

Resident Evil’s 30th anniversary is just next week on March 22, 2026 and CAPCOM has already teased events such as collaboration between Universal Studios Japan and Resident Evil Requiem later this year, and orchestral concerts in Japan, the US, and Europe.

Have you jumped into Resident Evil Requiem yet? Does it deliver on the expectations as one of the best games in recent years? Let us know in the comments and come hang out in the GamerzTheory Discord with us.
