ZeniMax Online Studios Working on New Unannounced IP in Pre-Production - Post-Blackbird Cancellation

Bethesda’s ZeniMax Online Studios is currently working on a new, unannounced IP. This was discovered by Timur222 and shared on X.

A ZeniMax Online Studios employee shared a status update stating that she is managing a small team of “5–15 developers working toward building a new, unannounced project in pre-production.” No additional details have been provided, but the team will be working on features such as gameplay, VFX, and character art, among other specialties.

Back in January, Matt Firor - the former president - left ZeniMax Online Studios following the cancellation of what he described as his “dream project,” Project Blackbird.

Last year, reports suggested that Phil Spencer and other Xbox executives were impressed with the game. It was said to feature augmented humans, with players able to “sculpt” their bodies through biomodifications and was set within a classic human-versus-AI storyline.

So how many projects is ZeniMax currently working on? With Project Blackbird canceled, it remains unclear whether this small team of 5–15 developers was working on that project or on something entirely different.
