EA Lays Off Battlefield 6 Staff Across All Studios Despite Record-Breaking Launch

EA has announced layoffs, an unknown number at this time, across its Battlefield teams, including workers from Criterion, Dice, Ripple Effect, and Motive Studios. The layoffs are taking place as part of a “realignment” across the Battlefield studios, as the team continues its live service support for Battlefield 6 following the launch.

An EA spokesperson told IGN when asked for comment on the number and roles impacted:

"We’ve made select changes within our Battlefield organization to better align our teams around what matters most to our community. Battlefield remains one of our biggest priorities, and we’re continuing to invest in the franchise, guided by player feedback and insights from Battlefield Labs."

Battlefield 6 was the best-selling game in the United States in 2025, selling over 7 million copies in three days, the best launch ever for a game in the franchise. However, things have been trending downward since launch. Steam reviews have fallen from "Mostly Positive” to “Mixed”, with fans criticizing heavy monetization, use of generative AI for in-game cosmetics, and a lack of content.

Battlefield’s population has seemingly dropped as well, from a 747,440 peak on Steam within days of launching. The 24-hour peak for the game at the time of writing is down to 50,306. Of course, these are just Steam numbers and do not count for Xbox and PlayStation numbers. It does give a sign that the overall population is falling.
