Ghost of Yōtei Legends Launches March 10: Free Co-Op Multiplayer Update with New Bosses And Classes

Ghost of Yōtei is getting a massive update tomorrow as the single-player game will get the online co-op multiplayer mode known as Ghost of Yōtei Legends launches March 10. Building on the foundations of Ghost of Tsushima’s own Legends mode as it reimagines Yōtei’s new mechanics and threats in a mythic, mystical spin.

Announced last year and officially revealed at the State of Play in February, the mode will be available as a free update for all owners of Ghost of Yōtei.

“We had a core team working on multiplayer throughout [Ghost of Yōtei’s] development. We were reacting and responding and pulling the systems in, figuring out how they would work in a multiplayer context. As [the main game] finished, people moved over to work on Legends, flesh it out. It’s an interesting development process. There’s a lot of stuff that looks like a prototype for a long time, and then when the team moves in, it’s a really rapid escalation and improvement. It’s like an advent calendar: we wake up every morning and see something new. There’s so much new content, and that the game is getting amazing and beautiful so quickly once the rest of the team jumps in to contribute. So it’s a really fun experience.”

Players will face off against the Yōtei Six, bosses that haunted Atsu’s story. However, Legends have a fun way of being exaggerated over years and centuries. Players will not be fighting powerful warlords, but instead 15-foot demonic bosses, a suitable challenge for multiple players.

Each mission will have four difficulties: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Players will face different enemies and challengers in each one. The higher the difficulty means more XP, and the faster you can advance in your chosen class and get better loot.

Each class will have their own focus weapon; Samurai have the Odachi, the Archer, the Yari. The Mercenary has dual katanas. The Shinobi have the Kusarigama. Each class has a tech tree build for those weapons. You can use other weapons for the classes. You are not just limited to your classes' speciality weapon.
