God of War Faye Spin-Off: Cory Barlog's New Game Stars Kratos' Wife - Reveal 2026, 2027 Release

A new God of War spin‑off appears to be what the mastermind behind the 2018 reboot, Cory Barlog, is currently working on. Barlog’s new game is set to bring Faye into the spotlight.

This information comes from well‑known insider NateTheHate, who stated on X:

“Here's what I have heard: Yes, the game is set within the God of War universe, and the lead character will be Faye. Gameplay is said to differ from the Norse God of War games, with more of a focus on action. Current plan: reveal this year, release in the first half of 2027  - barring any delay.”

Faye is Kratos’s second wife and Atreus’s mother, and she plays a rather important role in the rebooted series. This places Barlog’s spin‑off title likely in the realm of a prequel, as players are tasked with bringing Atreus’s mother’s ashes to the mountains in the 2018 title.

The ending of God of War Ragnarök leaves many possibilities for the series to continue. However, that decision appears to be left to Santa Monica Studio, which will determine who takes the lead in the next mainline title - whether it be Atreus or Kratos.

For now, Barlog and his team are expected to reveal their God of War spin‑off later this year, with plans for a 2027 release. The title is likely to remain rooted in Norse mythology and may lead directly into the events of the 2018 reboot.
