Pokémon Gen 10 Revealed: Winds and Waves Switch 2 Exclusive in 2027

Pokémon Day is here, and we got our first look at the upcoming 10th generation of the franchise with Pokémon Wind and Waves. Wind and Waves is currently set for a 2027 release, making it a five-year gap between Gen 9 and Gen 10, the longest gap between two main generations.

Opening on a beach house, we see Pikachu’s previous adventures from various spots in old generations before a pair of Pikachu dressed up in beach attire show up at the front door. We got a brief look around the world, with plenty of previous Pokémon making appearances.

We did get a look at three of the brand-new Pokémon as the new starters for Gen 10 made an appearance. Players will get to choose between Browst, a small-bird Grass-type, Pombom, the fire starter with a Pomeranian-like appearance, and Gecqua, the gecko Water-type.

Finally, the trailer ends with an underwater exploration scene, with the mechanic potentially returning after a decade-long absence. We also got confirmation that Wind and Waves will be a Switch 2 exclusive, marking the first time a mainline Pokémon game has been exclusive for this generation of Nintendo consoles.

In other Pokémon news, we got confirmation that Pokémon Champions will be releasing in April for Switch devices with a mobile release later this year.
