DOOM: The Dark Ages is gearing up to get a DLC later this year, and we should know exactly what we are getting thanks to SneakyJayCool on X. With plenty of new features coming in the DLC, here is what we know so far about the upcoming DLC.

The DLC will bring Slayer Gates and Archville back, and while the gameplay loop will remain the same, it plans to bring new things to the table. Mobility is set to play a major role in the DLC, with every new mechanic affecting gameplay in a meaningful way.

There will be a secret weapon that will require a lot of work to unlock, tied to a meaningful piece of lore that id will share in the future. There will also be a new spear weapon with a leap or possible teleport ability.

The skill ceiling in the DLC is expected to be quite high, with quickswapping in the DLC but done in a way that players might not be anticipating. Mastering one tool will require a lot of time investment, but unlocking its full potential transforms the game into something else entirely.

When it comes to exploration, players will likely get to see more of the cosmic realm, with a hub area. Exploration is set to have a strong role in overall progression. Expect to have plenty of backtracking with some sections requiring mobility options that players will not have at the moment of discovery. The DLC is expected to be quite large, essentially a sequel, with 30% of the content locked off until the story is completed.

The story of the DLC is expected to answer major lore questions that have been asked, with it shaping up as an experience not just something you watch, with environmental storytelling helping the narrative. Additionally, we will get the return of Ripatorium 3.0, which will launch alongside the DLC.
