Kena: Scars of Kosmora Revealed | Surprise Sequel to Bridge of Spirits Announced at State of Play

Somehow, Ember Lab managed to keep Kena’s next adventure hidden from leakers, making it a welcome surprise at yesterday’s PlayStation State of Play. Kena: Bridge of Spirits was released nearly five years ago, in 2021. Now, Ember Lab has returned, bringing Kena: Scars of Kosmora with them.

In the previous title, Kena helped those who had passed on. The game was a visual sensation reminiscent of Pixar, and the team aims to carry that forward with Kena’s new story, which focuses on helping the living. Kena is a Spirit Guide - now older and more skilled - and is searching for answers that lead her to the island of Kosmora.

Kena’s staff, her lifeline, is shattered. She must now learn the forgotten ways of Kosmora and use her powers to survive. The trailer reveals stunning locations, unique creatures, and an evil that Kena must face to overcome her challenges. The world appears much larger and more open than before. Bridge of Spirits was more direct, designed as a ‘point A to point B’ experience. Scars of Kosmora seems to offer an open-world sense of magical landscapes, and with a trusty mount, players will be able to travel across vast vistas. There are several biomes to explore and creatures to encounter.

Combat looks more refined and visceral than before, all accompanied by another heart-pounding story that promises to carry throughout. The game is set to release later this year, though no official release date has been announced. Did you miss yesterday's State Of Play?
