Steam Hits New Record: 42 Million Concurrent Users
Steam set a new platform record yesterday, with Valve’s PC game distributing platform, surpassing 42 million concurrent users as confirmed by SteamDB. The previous record was 41.6 million set only a few months ago in October 2025.

We all know that the Pandemic was a massive boon for gaming, with Steam showing a 31.5% from March 2020 to February 2021, with peak player count growing from 20 million to 26.3 million. However, Steam has been able to maintain a high amount of growth following the COVID. From 2017-2020, Steam saw an average of 4.5% growth per year. In the year following the pandemic, 2021-2022, Steam had a staggering 13.9% growth, and from 2022–2026 that number has remained in the ballpark, averaging 12.6% growth per year.
