Battlefield 6 Dethrones Call of Duty as 2025's Best-Selling Game
Call of Duty Drops to Battlefield 6 in 2025
With the recent release of Call of Duty Black Ops 7 topping the sales charts for November, according to Circana’s
The report lists the best-selling games for November as follows: Call of Duty Black Ops 7 debuted at number one, followed by Battlefield 6 at number two, NBA 2K26 at number three, Madden NFL 26 at number four, and EA Sports FC 26 at number five.
Although Black Ops 7 claimed the top spot for November, things get more interesting when looking at overall yearly sales, where Black Ops 7 falls to number seven. That’s right - EA and the teams behind this year’s Battlefield title, BF6, currently hold the number one spot for yearly sales. Battlefield 6 was released a month ahead of Black Ops 7, but the competition between these titles remains exciting.
Call of Duty seems to dominate each year, though it never takes home Game of the Year awards, which remains a point of discussion among players. According to Mat Piscatella’s post on BlueSky, overall yearly sales for 2025 place Battlefield 6 at number one, followed by NBA 2K26 at number two, Monster Hunter Wilds at number three, Borderlands 4 at number four, EA Sports College Football 26 at number five, Madden NFL 26 at number six, the aforementioned Call of Duty Black Ops 7 at number seven, last year’s Call of Duty Black Ops 6 at number eight, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered at number nine, and Ghost of Yeti at number ten.
One question we often ask at The Gamerz Theory is whether players are experiencing Call of Duty fatigue. With a yearly release schedule, is there still excitement for the next Call of Duty among players, or is Activision simply being greedy? Will Call of Duty reclaim the top spot next year with GTA VI releasing in the same window, or will Call of Duty take a year off to rebuild hype for the brand? Not long ago, Activision stated they would no longer release Call of Duty titles from the same series back-to-back . Are they beginning to see the consequences of a yearly release schedule?
