Larian Studios Reveals Divinity: Biggest RPG Ever, Darker Than Baldur's Gate 3 – Trailer Reaction

Larian Studios appears set to strike gold once again, with their Divinity trailer from The Game Awards drawing massive praise after a return to the franchise eight years after the release of Divinity: Original Sin 2. While a release date or even a release window remain unannounced and the trailer was only CGI with no gameplay, the hype for the next Divinity game is going crazy.

A Lone Bright Spot

Perhaps one of the biggest reasons the trailer was seen as one of the few bright spots in a very dull 2025 Game Awards, is that Larian Studios held nothing back in the Divinity trailer with publishing director Micahel Douse even commenting on X, The phrase "treating the audience with a level of intellectual respect" came up a lot in planning. It is about trying to shock them, it's about trying to match their powers of comprehension so that it resonates. We know people are capable of appreciating a three dimensional world.

So far, Larian Studios has been saying all the right things to get fans hyped for what could be a massive game, with CEO Swen Vincke stating that the new Divinity will mark "the beginning of something with more breadth, depth, and intimacy than anything we’ve created before," and the "Divinity we’ve always wanted to make," and remember this is the studio that brought us Baldurs Gate 3!
