The Game Awards 2025 Gets Brutal D Grade from Fans
The Game Awards for 2025 are in the books, and the early reviews tell a much different tale from last year's show.
A poll by The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley, something he does each year following the show, currently has a majority of the voters putting the show in the D category.
A Complete Flop of a Show?
At the time of writing 37% of the 338,000 voters graded The Game Awards 2025 as a D, with only 16% voting A. Last year’s show was a stark contrast with 44% of the 183,000 voters voting for A and only 16% giving it a D. We here at The Gamerz Theory gave the show a C.
A common complaint on Geoff's X post was that the last hour of the show tanked the hype with several criticisms about the final previews being lackluster games and the final hour awards being very rushed. Users even seemed to think the first two hours were some of the best in The Game Award’s history but a very low impact ending left people a little bummed.
Perhaps the best way to sum up the end of the show comes from content creator ‘Synth Potato’ whose reply to Geoff’s poll has over 18,000 likes stating “What exactly were y’all smoking when you decided a free-to-play hero shooter was a worthy show closer, bro.”
“The final hour of the show was seriously badly paced and lacked any exciting moments; it badly needed a final surprise. The other two hours were great though!”
