Perfect Dark Reboot Revival? Take-Two Hires Key Devs from Cancelled Xbox Project
Could a Perfect Dark Reboot Be Back on the Table with Take-Two? The Perfect Dark reboot, announced in 2020 and featured in last year’s Xbox Summer Showcase before being cancelled, might have new life thanks to Take-Two.
Second Time’s the Charm for Take-Two
According to Jason Schreier of Bloomberg, two senior members of the reboot project have been hired by Take-Two to form a new studio. Darrell Gallagher, a studio head at the Initiative, and Brian Horton, the director of Perfect Dark, have both joined Take-Two to lead a brand-new studio within 2K.
This isn’t the first time Take-Two has tried to house the Perfect Dark reboot. It was recently revealed that Take-Two was in discussions with Microsoft and Embracer to fund and publish the reboot. Unfortunately, the deal collapsed due to disagreements over the long-term ownership of the Perfect Dark franchise.
While Take-Two has yet to announce the name or direction of the new studio featuring Gallagher and Horton, the fact that this is now the second time the GTA 6 publisher has made moves involving those connected to the Perfect Dark reboot is a promising sign for fans. Time will tell if Take-Two brings the game back or if these hires are simply a coincidence.
