Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Skips The Game Awards | Naughty Dog Missing PS5 Entirely
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is reportedly skipping The Game Awards and won’t be ready for a 2026 release date.
The next original IP from the creator of The Last of Us, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, won’t be appearing in this year’s Game Awards showcase, where it was first revealed during Geoff Keighley’s award ceremony. This information comes from Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb, who said it will not appear at The Game Awards and, to add fuel to the fire, it won’t be releasing next year either.
The Last of Us Part 2 was initially released on June 19, 2020, for the PlayStation 4. Like its predecessor, it received a facelift with a PlayStation 5 remastered version launching on January 19, 2024. Finally, one last version of the revenge story was released on April 3, 2025, landing on PC.
If Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet launches in 2027, Naughty Dog will likely skip the PlayStation 5 generation altogether. This would mean the title has been in development for close to a decade, which is becoming more common with large AAA titles. Will Naughty Dog be ready for the PlayStation 6 and have their game set as a launch title?
The story is set thousands of years in the future, in an alternate universe where advanced space travel existed by 1986. The protagonist, Jordan A. Mun (played by Tati Gabrielle), is a bounty hunter stranded on the remote planet Sempiria, which has been isolated for over 600 years.
