Mafia: The Old Country | FREE First-Person Update & Photo Mode Drops Tomorrow

We now have an impactful reason to head back into 1900s Sicily: Mafia: The Old Country’s free update, Free Ride, drops tomorrow.

A plethora of additions are coming to the game, with the most noticeable update being the new first-person mode. This gameplay feature will allow players to freely roam the Valle Dorata landscape in the “most immersive” way possible, discover hidden secret areas, or pull over to the much-requested photo mode, something I mentioned in my review, which you can check out here.

Hanger 13 wasn’t finished with just the new FPS mode. The team also created several kinds of repeatable challenges, ranging from stealth to brute force combat and different races in both new and familiar locations. Once players complete these challenges, they will be rewarded with Dinari, the in-game currency, which can be spent on outfits, new charms, weapons, and vehicles.

When asked about how it feels to drive in the new first-person mode, Associate Design Director Josh Zammit shared this on the PlayStation Blog:

“I’ve spent many hours traversing the Valle Dorata with it now, and still stop to marvel at details I rarely noticed while zooming around in our classic third-person view.”

Although the new first-person mode may be the highlight for most players, those who prefer a more stylized experience can enjoy the addition of Cinema Siciliano—a classic Italian cinema mode that brings another touch of history to the game.

Whether you’re looking to race, test out the new first-person racing, or enjoy the photo mode, there’s plenty of new ground to cover with a return to Mafia: The Old Country. Let us know if you’re jumping in over on our Discord.
