Halo 2 & Halo 3 Remakes LEAKED: Sprint Campaigns Only, Halo 7 MP + PS5 Invasion
Halo 2 Infinity and Beyond!
According to the leaker on X “Halo Leaks” AKA “@leaks_infinite”, there will be more Halo Remakes in Xbox & PlayStations’ future!
The original post is as follows:
“Halo 2 & Halo 3 are being remade, yes they will have sprint. No multiplayer, only campaign. Full remakes.
Multiplayer is going to be Halo 7.” - Halo Leaks.
That one line stands out. What is “Halo 7”? Will that be “Infinite 2”?
A following post states:
“No ETA on when these could be announced, same source that told me about the remake & it's mechanics also told me Halo 2 & 3 were being remade to.
It's possible they're using Halo Campaign Evolved to judge whether a Halo 2 & 3 remake would be viable, but this is just guessing.” - Halo Leaks.
If I recall, Halo Infinite was unveiled as an ever evolving and updating game. It was my impression that the game would update periodically at roughly the same timescale as a sequel game would take to make. In this way, it would practically be a live-service game, but disguised as a hub for Halo. A sort of forever Halo, if you will. Hence, the name, yet it was never utilized in this way. I personally question if this “Halo 7” is really a name for an update for Infinite to accomplish that function.
So should we really expect no multiplayer?
A commenter laments:
Halo 2 and 3’s multiplayer were legendary, not remaking them is 💀🥀” to which Halo Leaks replied:
“Halo Studios wants everyone to play Halo 7's MP, they don't want to create separate multiplayer experiences competing with each other.
Which is why they aren't being remade individually.
This is a big factor, especially because all these games will be launching on PlayStation.” — Halo Leaks.
That reveals an answer to what some may be asking. “Why remake Halo? Why now?”
Xbox is making an incursion into the PlayStation ecosystem. Xbox has already announced that they are bringing Halo Campaign Evolved to PlayStation 5. Forza Horizon 5 and Gears of War Re-Re-Make have demonstrated the strength of those IPs; dominating the sales charts on the PlayStation Network. Xbox placed one foot firmly in the door, so to speak. If this leak proves to be true, then this will represent Xbox’s bashing in that metaphorical door with an invasion of former exclusives. There are truly no boundaries when it comes to former exclusives. Perhaps it should have been assumed that this would happen given Phil Spencers’ uncomfortable-looking response when posed that question.
“Would Perfect Dark go to PlayStation?” (R.I.P Perfect Dark)
“Would Halo go to PlayStation?”
In all cases, he insisted on providing a weak, yet telling answer. His reply stressed that he cannot, or would not want to inadvertently announce anything at that time. Furthermore, he did not want to rob the potential development teams of the excitement and control to make announcements themselves. Fair enough, but just as many predicted, those statements were answers after all.
There is a growing sentiment among Xbox fans that the brand is pivoting to become a third party publisher and quitting the console race. Admittedly, Phil Spencer already conceded the “Console Wars” to Sony PlayStation during the FTC trials regarding the Blizzard Activision acquisition.
But I firmly disagree.
Despite all of this generation's problems and hardware shortfalls, this is a time when Xbox’s major IPs: Forza and Gears of War, have already dominated the PlayStation sales charts for several months on end. At a time when PlayStation is lacking and Nintendo is off on Nintendo-Island, Xbox has both demonstrated the strength of their brand and found an avenue through which to grow regardless of console sales decline. You might not be aware, but the Master Chief icon is present inside of every Xbox console because he is the heart of the brand. Now this literal console-icon is spreading rapidly in what was once considered “enemy territory.” The Master Chief is the ultimate avatar and harbinger to bring about the end of console exclusivity. Maybe even signal the end of the console war entirely, even if it is by domination.
So the answer appears to be that Halo 7 -whatever that will be named, will likely become what Infinite was meant to be. According to Halo Leaks, Halo 7 will host the multiplayer components:
“Halo 7 will be the Multiplayer experience for all these remakes.
Old sources I had said it would be coming out sometime in 2025 - 2026, but that could've changed overtime.
I was under the impression it would've been announced alongside the Halo 1 Remake, but this didn't happen.” - Halo Leaks
Additionally, Halo 7 will also serve as a direct sequel to Infinite. A commenter asks:
“So, Halo 7 will be multiplayer only or will it have both, multiplayer and single player campaign?”
Halo Leaks replies with:
“Halo 7 will still have it's own Campaign / sequel to Halo Infinite, but I don't believe they'll be launching together based off what my sources have told me about it.” - Halo Leaks.

If these leaks prove to be accurate, then it appears that Halo Studios and Xbox (Or Microsoft Gaming as they would like to be known) will be following through with using Halo to make their biggest move ever. If Halo Studios are able to really pour their heart and soul into these games, Halo and Microsoft Gaming will earn the growth and profit that they seek. In exchange, fans new and old alike will have the opportunity to experience the series that is arguably responsible for making Xbox a household name. Judging by what was shown during the Halo Campaign Evolved announcement, these remakes will be gorgeous in comparison to the originals. First-time players will be able to experience the timeless classics without being distracted by twenty-year-old graphics. Judging by Campaign Evolved again, the audio will likewise be modernized and perhaps even re-recorded entirely.
Only one question remains...
Where will be the best place to experience Halo in this new golden era?
Will you be on an Xbox Series X, or will you be on the PlayStation 5 Pro?
