Today, Valve has revealed the future of the Steam Hardware family. Launching three pieces of hardware in early 2026: Steam Controller, Steam Machine and the Steam Frame, Valve’s next VR headset.

All three of these new devices and the current Steam Deck (which alluded to the launch of a new Steam Deck, more to come on that in the future was mentioned) were designed to work together and optimized for Steam, while continuing to operate as open platforms.

"We've been super happy with the success of Steam Deck," said Gabe Newell, President of Valve, "and PC gamers have continued asking for even more ways to play all the great titles in their Steam libraries. Our work over the years on other hardware and even more importantly on SteamOS has enabled Steam Controller, Steam Machine, and Steam Frame to do just that."

Valve will be shipping all three products where current Steam Decks can be found (US, CA, UK, EU, AU) as well as regions covered by KOMODO: Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

The Steam Controller features the same input controls as the Steam Deck and boosts next-gen precision magnetic thumbsticks, full-sized controls, 2 trackpads, gyro, 4 buttons on the back of the controller, similar to the Steam Deck, and grip buttons. The Steam Controller will be compatible with PCs, laptops, Steam Deck, Steam Machine and the Steam Frame.

A new controller is great. However, just how long will the wireless controller last with all of our playtime? Valve mentions the controller features a Li-ion rechargeable battery that will last well into 35 hours of playtime and easily connect to the Steam Controller Puck, a charging dock that is included with the purchase of every controller.

The next and likely the most exciting portion of the reveal was Valve’s next home console-like addition: the Steam Machine. Not the most exciting name, but the machine is six times more powerful than the Steam Deck. It’s a PC for your living room. It’s meant to move you from your PC desktop setup to the big screen. Featuring 4K resolution at 60FPS with FSR enabled. The Steam Machine will once again run Steam’s OS and will work with the Steam Controller, or any other accessory you prefer, not restricting you to one proprietary set of devices.

Steam Machine is powered by a semi-custom AMD GPU, a powerful PC home console. With a customizable LED Strip, several USB-C and A ports. The powerful Steam Machine is only 6 inches in size, its quiet, but will it overheat? The machine will also stream to other devices, such as your phone, Steam Deck or the Steam Frame.

Steam Frame is Valves next-gen VR headset. This lightweight VR headset will allow you to play VR and non-VR games alike, and it works with the steam controller. The latest VR headset includes a wireless adapter that allows you to stream your games from your PC to your headset. Running on Steam OS, and powered by a Snapdragon processor. There is internal memory on the headset if you prefer to have titles downloaded directly, without the worry of latency and the option to expand your storage with a Micro SD card.

Without a price for any of these devices, just how expensive do you think Valve’s new hardware will be? Let us know in our Discord. Will you be buying the Steam Machine?
