Nightholme Gameplay Reveal | A Horror Extraction PvPvE Happy Hunting

Today, Studio Ellipsis revealed our first look at gameplay for their upcoming title, Nightholme - a horror multiplayer extraction PvPvE game coming to PC and console.

In Nightholme, players take on the role of a Grimrunner. Players can choose from three archetypes, each with its own set of skill trees that allow players to level up or evolve (who remembers that game?). With each evolution of a player’s skills, the Grimrunner can become a force of nature. For example, the Abomination skill tree allows players to evolve into a monstrous wolf of power.

These powers appear to be required to take on the ultimate boss: the Gloomfiend. Defeating the Gloomfiend won’t be easy, but the reward will be worth it - provided players can escape. Each match supports teams of three, or players can attempt to go in solo, with a total of 12 players per session. Each player’s goal is to evolve and defeat the Gloomfiend, but how you do so is entirely up to you. Team up with others and extract together, or form alliances only to betray them later - making for some truly unfortunate (and memorable) turn of events.

"We're not the first ones to say this; making games is hard. By sharing more about Nightholme at pre-alpha, our goal is to break down some of the barriers between devs and community. Being 'community first' should mean that the community has a say when it matters most, and it's a promise we're committed to upholding," shared Studio Ellipsis Head and Creator of Nightholme, Alex Amancio.

"Some of us at Studio Ellipsis have built worlds for years. For some, Nightholme is their first. What unites us is simple: we believe games should feel unpredictable again. And that worlds are better when they're discovered together. And yes...we want to scare the shit out of you. We hope you'll enjoy discovering this first foray into Nightholme with us."
