Did Steam Machine’s Price Just Get Leaked? Oops… $$$$ CAD?
Valve surprised the world last year with the shocking reveal of the Steam Machine, Steam Frame, and Steam Controller. Fans - including ourselves - were excited by the prospect of having a PC connected to our living room big screens. The GabeCube, as many were calling it, is an impressive piece of technology that will compete alongside PlayStation and Xbox in the living room space, but many fear it will come with a much higher price tag.
It appears that the price may have just been leaked. Thanks to eagle-eyed Reddit user Chusskaptaan, a listing from a Czech retailer was shared, showing two different models of the Steam Machine. Much like Valve’s Steam Deck approach, players seem to have the option of a 512GB model, which is set to retail for $950 USD, while the 2TB model could be listed at $1070 USD. Both prices were converted from CZK currency.

Keep in mind that none of this has been made official by Valve and should be taken with a grain of salt. However, many within the industry have stated multiple times that the Steam Machine would likely be priced higher than other home consoles. LinusTechTips and their team even created their own version of the Steam Machine based on the specs revealed to the public so far. After their approximate build, this aligns with the Czech retailer’s price point.
How do you feel about the possibility of a retail price near $1500 CAD? Let us know over on our Discord.
