Well-known leaker claims that Rockstar is currently testing the possibility of Grand Theft Auto VI being ported to the Nintendo Switch 2. Nate The Hate was asked on X, about his thoughts on the ambitious GTA VI coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 where he said:

“I said a while ago that R* was doing tests to bring it to Switch 2; but tests don’t always equal release. I know an effort has been made to see if they can bring it to the platform. I don’t know the current state of that effort.”

Could Rockstar bring GTA VI to Nintendo’s latest handheld? Though nothing is guaranteed at launch, there could be a possibility of launching on the platform at a later date, if not at launch alongside the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The power gap is closing between competitors is closing, and the competition is heating up with Valve announcing the Steam Machine. Rockstar is known for releasing on consoles first with PC players having to wait for a later date, which could be the same situation for Switch 2 fans.

The Nintendo Switch 2 may not be the most powerful hardware when it comes to consoles. However, CD Projekt Red was able to bring Cyberpunk 2077 to the platform, showcasing butter-smooth gameplay. Which means anything is possible. Xbox demands for developers to produce an Xbox Series X and the less powerful S version to be on the console. Could the Switch 2 run the Xbox Series S version of GTA VI on the platform?

Nate The Hate continued with “Experimenting doesn’t equal “in development” & companies often test to see if a game is possible on hardware.” Rockstar is super ambitious in their next venture for GTA VI and it has been claimed that the game will be unmatched for decades to come.
