Monster Hunter Competition Has Arrived | Horizon Steel Frontiers

Move Over Monster Hunter

The world of Horizon returns. However, it may surprise fans to know that we won’t be playing our red-headed heroine, Aloy, this time around.

NCSOFT, in collaboration with Guerrilla Games and Sony, revealed Horizon Steel Frontiers during Korea’s game conference, G-Star 2025. The upcoming MMORPG will allow players to create their very own hunter in the Horizon universe with a heavy emphasis on player creation.

Players can expect to tame and ride machines of the wild Deadlands. The new location is inspired by Arizona and New Mexico. Here, hunters will explore the Deadlands in search for loot and large-scale battles with Horizon’s signature hunting action gameplay fans have come to know and love about the series. Fans will quickly notice some machine favorites within the trailer as a group of hunters has trapped a Tallneck.

However, it didn’t appear to be players tying down the Tallneck, instead NPC’s. Players will scale these large mechanical towers to unlock the nearby regions, something players have done in previous entries of the series, but will we join the fight to lock down the beast for spare parts?

One fan requested feature with Horizon Forbidden West was the ability to soar in the skies. We can see in the trailer as a player latches onto the high-flying pterodactyl-like machine, the Sunwing. Once on the back of the Sunwing, players will get a birds-eye view high above the Deadlands below for a faster way of traveling across the landscape.

Horizon Steel Frontiers is an MMORPG. Players will work together with “cooperation and strategy”, mentions NC Executive Producer, Sung-Gu Lee. BUT, players will also fight for resources and battle against rival tribes, creating that MMO feel within the lands of Horizon we’ve never seen before.

There is no current release date set for Horizon Steel Frontiers. NCSOFT has informed us that the title will come to PC via Purple, their own app similar to Steam, and will also be coming to mobile. Hopefully, NC will also bring the title to console and Steam.
