PS5 & PC Cross-Buy

A rundown of the rumored Cross-Buy feature for PlayStation 5 and PC

As the lines become more blurred with platforms trying their best to branch out in hopes of expanding their audience, it appears PlayStation is working on a new system that will allow players to Cross-Buy between their PlayStation 5 and PC, reports have claimed.

Xbox fans have had this ability for what feels like years now, the opportunity to buy an Xbox title such as Sea of Thieves and also be able to play the title on PC, or the other way around. It's an excellent feature PlayStation fans haven’t had the opportunity to enjoy, not yet at least.

It was first spotted by Amethxst on X, who showcased a Cross-Buy PS5/PC button. They stated:

New Symbols will be added soon (website & tool), but here some nice new features from PlayStation (yes, some are old, other are unseen):
  • A kind of "echo mode"
  • PS5/PC games
  • "Cross-Buy"

This was quickly followed up by reputable source, billbil-kun, who went on to mention:

“Inserting special characters in the “About” section of our PlayStation Network account. And the result does indeed show that these symbols actually exist.“

It’s certainly a great move forward for PlayStation fans. Helldivers 2 is currently on PC and PlayStation, with the most recent addition of Xbox. However, at launch, players could now have a one-time fee with the ability to play on PlayStation and PC. This does raise the question: PRICE?

We see prices are on the rise, hardware included. Will this new Cross-Buy feature come with a bigger price tag? Let us know your thoughts over in our Discord.
