A New Extraction Horror Game Begging to Be Different

New studio, Studio Ellipsis, a Lisbon-based studio helmed by ex-creative director of AC Revelations and AC Unity, you heard that right. Alexandre Amancio and his team decided it was time for a fresh take on the Extraction Shooter genre. Nightholme is a three-player squad, set in a multiplayer PvPvE horror extraction game that promises to be something different.

Hunt down terrifying creatures, fight off other players in an ever-shifting environment, where each run is said to be ever-changing from the last. You choose a Grimrunner and archetype by drinking Nocturn, a mysterious transforming position. Look to shape your builds through a flexible skill tree. If the PvP wasn’t enough, you will encounter challenging boss fights with the PvE element that will permanently unlock new upgrades.

The art style appears to pull from Riot’s Arcane series. A painterly art direction that, though familiar at this point, is still fresh and exciting, even if it is terrifying. A tactical approach, the builds from your selected transformation archetype will offer different gameplay scenarios, each with its own unique set of skills that pertain to your build as it synergizes with your gear and upgrades.

Boss encounters will have players facing off in large-scale battles, if players are able to fend off each other before their pending doom. These boss fights will reward players with powerful loot in the form of Terror Seeds. Terror Seeds are permanent abilities to use for your next run.

Nighthome will be launching on PC and Consoles next year, with closed and open beta’s in the future.

"After opening our studio doors last year, we're thrilled to share our first game, Nightholme. Our team of both newcomers and industry veterans set out to create a one-of-a-kind multiplayer horror experience that's as terrifying as it is unpredictable, where every match feels like its own unique story of survival," said Alexandre Amancio, Head of Studio Ellipsis and Creator of Nightholme. "The last thing anyone needs is another generic multiplayer game, so with Nightholme we've made sure that we're offering a fresh and exciting experience to fans of horror and extraction games."

Nightholme expands beyond the traditional PvPvE loop, adding more to the core experience by offering deeper, sustained, and immersive gameplay and progression. With stealth and survival as core pillars, players will make strategic and tactical choices that shape their experience in this dynamic and horrific open world.

"We've infused this multiplayer focused genre with a gripping long-term narrative and expanded to new territory by embracing the horror elements inherent to our dark fantasy world," continues Amancio. "We can't wait for players to step into the game, test their courage, and discover what lurks in the shadows together."
