Splinter Cell Remake Not Coming Out Anytime Soon | Ubisoft Hiring A New Director
Ubisoft has spun Sam Fisher into more of their own IP’s instead of giving fans what they’ve been asking for, a new Splinter Cell title for years now. A Splinter Cell Remake was revealed back in December 2021, nearly 4 years ago. Though Splinter Cell: Deathwatch recently arrived on Netflix to good reviews. It appears that will be the only Splinter Cell content Ubisoft fans will be receiving for quite some time.
A job posting has led to some concerning questions. Ubisoft is currently searching to hire a new Game Director in regard to help with the Splinter Cell Remake. The job posting has since been taken down, but the posting does raise concerns for a company that also recently let their 20-plus year-old Assassin’s Creed game director go, Marc Alexis Cote. A company, though making money, is exploding from within its own internal struggles.
The now removed job posting stated the new Game Director would focus on the moment-to-moment gameplay, how gadgets work and even determine how much noise Sam makes when taking down an enemy.
Sounds like a rather important role for a project that supposedly started in 2021. Without a game director, it’s all but official, the Splinter Cell Remake could be in trouble, if not delayed. Rumors of a 2026 release seem all but a pipe dream at this point. Ubisoft has taken their time with production for games in the past. Splinter Cell Blacklist was the last time Sam had his own game, back in 2013. With over a decade of fans asking for a new Splinter Cell game, it appears we’ll be waiting a bit longer.
