High On Life 2 Narrative Director Teases Exciting New Project - Not High On Life 3? | Squanch Games
When a studio wraps up years of work and finally reveals its latest venture to the world, what comes next?
Speaking with Alec Robbins, the Narrative Director for High On Life 2 at Squanch Games, on the Theory Unlocked podcast, we were able to ask him about the production of the game along with many other industry questions. But like all fans, what we really wanted to know was: what comes next now that the game is out?
Of course, the team is continuing to update the game with post-launch patches as they fix bugs, with Alec noting that “the game launched with a few more bugs than the team wanted.” But what project follows High On Life 2? It may surprise fans to learn that it might not be High On Life 3. While there is no doubt that plans exist to continue the series, it may be time for a brand-new project.
Here’s what Alec had to say:
“We’re figuring out what we’re doing next. There are a few little ideas percolating. There’s one I’m very hopeful we get to do and that I’m very excited about, but I can’t say anything yet. It’s an idea that’s very near and dear to me. If we are allowed to do it - that’s the only hint I’ll give - we need permission from someone, and if we get it, then I will be very happy.”
It certainly sounds like Squanch Games is ready for a new adventure. As High On Life 2 wraps up its post-launch support, where will the studio go next? One thing is for certain: a studio like Squanch Games is sure to deliver something unique, hilarious, and full of over-the-top characters.
