Cyberpunk 2077 Gets No More DLC or Expansions - CDPR Shifts to Witcher 4 Full Production

That’s a wrap for Cyberpunk 2077 as the team moves into full production on The Witcher 4.

Cyberpunk 2077 recently joined the plethora of games on Xbox Game Pass, bringing with it the fully realized, complete package for fans who have yet to jump into V’s story and experience the game in its best state. However, some fans are still holding out hope for more content following the release of the Phantom Liberty DLC - a standalone experience that has players inhabit the role of V in a spy‑thriller mission to save the President of America alongside Solomon Reed, played by Idris Elba, after his journey home doesn’t go as planned.

One fan on X asked, “When secret new DLC?” to which the team quickly crushed fans’ hopes and dreams of future content by replying, “We have no plans for additional DLCs or expansions. If anything changes, we will inform you all!”

It appears that CD Projekt Red is now all hands on deck with The Witcher 4 moving forward. The Witcher 4 will feature a new protagonist, with Ciri taking the reins from Geralt. While Geralt is still thought to be a part of the next iteration of the series, he will be stepping down from his prized role as the hero and passing the torch to a new Witcher - Ciri. CDPR currently has approximately 400 employees working on the next title and will be developing the game using Unreal Engine 5. There is no official release date, other than speculation pointing to a 2027 launch, which seems highly unlikely given the scope of previous Witcher games, especially considering the team only entered full production in 2024.
