Xbox Next-Gen Console Confirmed: Project Helix Plays Xbox and PC Games

Asha Sharma, the new CEO of Microsoft Gaming, has made her first announcement since taking over, confirming the existence of Project Helix, the codename for the next-generation Xbox console. She also confirmed the long-standing rumor that the device will be designed to play Xbox and PC Games.

Great start to the morning with Team Xbox, where we talked about our commitment to the return of Xbox, including Project Helix, the code name for our next generation console. Project Helix will lead in performance and play your Xbox and PC games. Looking forward to chatting about this more with partners and studios at my first GDC next week!

Sharma posted on her X account yesterday. There have been rumors for some time that the fifth-generation of Xbox consoles would be able to play PC games. Of course, it comes at a time that Sony is pulling back on first-party PC support, so Xbox fans might still be out of luck when it comes to playing Sony exclusives.

Do you think Xbox can pull off their next generation of consoles playing both Xbox and PC games while being affordable enough to compete on the market? Let us know in the comments and come hang out in the GamerzTheory Discord with us.
