Why Day of the Devs Is the Most Important Indie Games Showcase in 2025

Day of the Devs is a non-profit organization dedicated to spreading the word about upcoming indie games across the world. It celebrates the creativity and diversity of game developers and their magical creations, both big and small. Day of the Devs is completely free for developers who are accepted into their showcases.

The organization held its first event back in 2012, established by Double Fine Productions and iam8bit as a way to give back to the community. What started as a way to share new games with a broader audience quickly grew, recognizing the challenges faced by small teams, or even solo developers, trying to showcase their games among AAA experiences that often steal the spotlight at major events.

I’ve had the pleasure of attending their digital showcases and in-person events for the last few years. I’m always surprised by the creative talent and new experiences that come from this event. And this year is no different, showcasing talented teams with various games of every flavour. Indie games are where true creative freedom is found. AAA studios have budgets and targets set by higher powers, but indie teams are the creative backbone of the industry. They are fans of games who strive to create something unique and special, among a sea of talented studios all fighting for their 15 seconds of fame.

The team at Day of the Devs helps showcase some of the most creative titles you might otherwise miss, and certainly shouldn’t pass on. Games like Planet of Lana, Hyper Light Breaker, and Bionic Bay are just a few that have found hope because of this team.

Day of the Devs relies on support from fans and the industry as a non-profit organization. If you would like to help support this incredible cause, you can donate to them here.
