UN:Me Revealed: Shueisha Games' Stunning Psychological Horror Adventure Confronts Deepest Fears in 2026
On the eve of The Game Awards 2025, Day of the Devs held their annual showcase featuring smaller indie titles in development. Shueisha Games made a world premiere announcement, unveiling their new single-player psychological horror adventure, UN:Me.
While not much is known about the game yet, the producer of UN:Me, Yasukazu Kawai, describes the basic concept as a dreamlike dark fantasy. The game's director, Shun Sasaki, further explains the premise and what makes UN:Me stand out from others in the genre.
UN:Me will challenge horror and mystery fans by asking: “What are you afraid of? What makes you uncomfortable?”
The story follows the struggle of a young woman who is host to four souls. The player must take control of the protagonist as she confronts each soul's fears and anxieties. These different sets of anxieties are portrayed in absolutely horrifying ways, which is where the dark fantasy elements come into play. Like a nightmare, creatures and reality twist and contort into dreadful representations of specific phobias.
The imagery shown is both gorgeous and grotesque. Shun Sasaki emphasizes that one person's fear may seem trivial to others, but to them, the reality of that fear is undeniable. Sasaki further reveals that the team debated whether UN:Me is truly a “horror” game, but ultimately decided not to be constrained by traditional genre boundaries. This suggests a greater focus on psychological elements and what fundamentally unsettles us as human beings.
Isn’t that a subgenre of horror?
If the imagery shown is any indication of the finished product - yes! We will have to wait until Shueisha Games is ready to reveal more, but the game is planned for a 2026 release. UN:Me is expected to be rated T for Teen and available on Steam.
