The Division 2: Battle for Brooklyn DLC Review – Nostalgic Return to Cleaners' Chaos
A Return Home
Welcome home you might say. The Division 2’s latest DLC Battle for Brooklynn is a love letter to the first game. Though I may have taken a lot of time off from playing the Division, it didn’t take long before I felt right back at home.
The Cleaners are back at it again, and it’s our job to clean up the streets of Brooklynn and the filth that surrounds it. I’ll admit, when I first jumped back into the Division 2 ready to help save Brooklynn, I was a bit discouraged as I spent a good portion of my first night trying to find out where to go to begin the latest adventure of the Division. After spending far too much time wasted looking for some sense of direction, I came across the pilot thanks to a YouTube video and was able to begin my journey to help reap the cleaners and more from Brooklynn.
If you’ve played The Division, you should know by now what to expect. A beautiful backdrop littered with garbage, dark dingy alleys and streets filled with ambient sounds and glimmers of the night sky. Massive Ent have mastered the world of the Division 2 and continues to wow us all. The helicopter ride to Brooklynn doesn’t disappoint. It’s stunning!
Our trip down memory lane brings players back to Brooklynn with a completely rebuilt map and a touch of nostalgia seeing old locations become new again. This time around, our threats becomes the Cleaners Purple Flame. A corrosive damaging effect that corrodes your armor, changing up the gameplay and our strategy. We need to stop the cleaners and their production of the Purple Flame. The Cleaners aren’t the only threat however, the Black Tusk is involved…which could lead to future content or TD3.
With lots of gameplay added with the Battle for Brooklynn, I was surprised at how much content was here and how long it took me to clean it all up. I would have to guess around 10 or so hours after 3 new main missions, repayable world missions and other activities, Massive Ent didn’t just give us some small side story, they gave us a reason to come back. Story content with twists and turns, new gear, expandable stash space, bounty target, this was exactly what I was looking for. Meaningful content that pushes the game forward and sets up the future.
The Battle for Brooklyn is an excellent addition for fans that are looking for another reason to keep playing or like me, a reason to come back to the game. You won’t be disappointed as you set out to clean up the streets of Brooklynn once again. I’m giving the DLC a 9. Welcome back agents.
